Some folks say that the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States is worthless. I couldn't disagree more. Not only does the Preamble put the entire document in context both philosophically and grammatically, it defines the base of all government powers.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The efforts of honest officers of the law, from local to national levels, are strained by a multitude non-rights violating, victimless crimes that they must enforce. The enforcement of said crimes undermines the Union between States, disgraces Justice, insures domestic strife, depletes the common defense, promotes poverty, and secures the destruction of Liberty.
As for the military-industrial complex that has helped lead the way in the ruination of this country, notice the only noun that the Framers left uncapitalized - defence.
